Not all materials can be used for precision mechanical parts processing. Some Hardness have too much hardness, which can exceed the hardness of the processing parts and may damage the parts. Therefore, these materials are not suitable for precision mechanical parts processing, except for parts made of special materials or laser cutting.

The materials for precision machinery parts processing are divided into two categories, metal materials and non-metallic materials. For metallic materials, the hardness is higher than stainless steel, followed by cast iron, copper, and aluminum. The processing of ceramics, plastics, and other materials belongs to the processing of non-metallic materials.

The processing of precision machinery parts mainly puts forward requirements for Hardness. For some occasions, the higher the material hardness, the better. It is only limited to the hardness requirements of the processing machine parts. The processed materials cannot be too hard, and it is impossible to process if they are even harder than the machine parts. The material should be moderately soft and hard, at least one level lower than the hardness of the parts. It also depends on the purpose of the processed components and the reasonable selection of materials for the parts.

There are still some requirements for materials in the processing of precision mechanical components, and not all materials are suitable for processing, such as materials that are too soft or too hard. The former is not necessary for processing, while the latter cannot. Therefore, it is necessary to pay attention to the density of the material before processing.

Assuming that the density is too high, it is equivalent to a high hardness, and if the hardness exceeds the hardness of the machine (lathe turning tool), it cannot be processed. It not only damages the parts, but also poses a danger, such as the turning tool flying out and injuring people. So, generally speaking, for mechanical processing, the material material must be lower than the hardness of the machine tool in order to be processed.
